The purpose of this letter is to make you aware of the upcoming Sixth Annual Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and ask you to spread the word to your employees, members and supporters.
Each year our Film Festival features outstanding documentary and feature films addressing humanitarian concerns and fundamental issues of justice from around the world.
The Film Festival also includes speakers, question and answer periods following each film and, in many cases, appearances by the film directors themselves.
This year’s festival will take place from February 24 to March 5 at Jackman Hall in the Art Gallery of Ontario and will feature 8 outstanding films …… Plus tard, Tu Comprendras, Snow, Remnants of a War, It’s a Free World…, Under Rich Earth, Battle of Chile Parts 1 and 2, Munyurangabo and The Sari Soldiers. Tickets for members of Cinematheque Ontario , AGO or Human Rights Watch are $5.90 and for non-members are $10.50.
The main purpose of the Film Festival is to raise awareness about human rights abuses in order to bring communities together to discuss appropriate responses to human rights issues. We want to continue to contribute to Toronto ’s reputation as a city known for arts and culture, as well as for its multiculturalism and openness towards building bridges between ethnic communities, boldly addressing social and political issues and engaging dialogue for solutions.
